Meran & Dusty's Vow Renewal

  Meran and Dusty
Vow Renewal

Saturday, the Second of October,
Two Thousand and Ten

For those of you who don't know our story let me explain.
No, it's too much... let me sum up.

We met the summer before our junior year in high school at a dance.
I'd just moved and I didn't know anyone.
But Dusty came up to me and asked me to dance.
For me, it was love at first sight.
He’ll tell you he doesn't remember that dance, but I do.
He’d say we met the first day of school
when I walked into our U.S. history class.
He said he felt like he'd just been struck by lightning.
It took a couple months and a bad break-up with his x-girlfriend,
but by November we were dating.
By March we were engaged.
It happened behind the school one day during lunch.
He got down on his knee and asked me to marry him.
He gave me a ring he made in art class.
And of course- I said yes.

A year later we both moved out of town because of our parents
and we continued a long distance relationship.
We both graduated from high school. And he joined the navy.
Boot camp was torture on us.
And A-school was worse, mostly because he was in Florida.
But when it was time to come home for Christmas
we decided that we would get married before he had to leave again.
So, with one week, one hundred dollars,
and a lot of grumbling from my parents,
we threw together a wedding.
Except for the part when we said "I do"
it was all a huge disappointment.
And so this is why we are here today.
Because we felt like the joy was missing from our wedding.
The vows were all wrong. And no one was happy.

This time we're doing it right. And we're doing it our way!
We are celebrating our tenth anniversary.
They all said we'd never make it, but look at us now!
Our flame burns hotter than ever.
